Dev Diary 8/16 - 8/30

2099-12-30

Hello. I’m Everette, aka Digx7, and I’m looking for work in the games industry. In the meantime, I’m working on various projects. This is my Dev Diary for 8/10 - 8/16.

Due to the last post being 3 weeks that means this post will only be for the 1 week.

Here’s to hoping following post will stick closer to the every 2 week format.

Friday 9/12

Spent the day trying out a new devlog recording process and working on UI for the trains in the game

Devlog recording process

I’m trying to record my mic as I work that way I can get my audio narration as I go instead of needing to record again after the fact. This can save me time as I can record my thoughts as they are fresh. It may affect the video qualities, but to be far I’m not putting out videos at the moment anyway dispite wanting to. So maybe this can get started regularly posting these as videos

UI for the trains in the game

I got it so you can press a button on the HUD to show some info about each train car above it. This info includes: Health, Warmth, and Workforce (workers and engineers).

Saturday 9/13

Fixed bug with buffs, updated the map scene camera, added map space ui, worked on objectives

Bug with buffs

Was having a bug where the buffs weren’t unloading correctly. I fixed it

Map Scene Camera

It now loads up focused on the players location

Map Space UI

You can now toggle on and off showing the tempature and snow level of any given space

Objectives

Worked on the backend system and UI of adding objectives to the game

Sunday 9/14

Fixed bugs with objectives, made it so objectives can be saved, began work on multiple objective types

Monday 9/15

Worked on multiple objective types, tested out the multiple objective types with a tutorial

Regardless, that’s all for this entry. Not sure what I want to focus on for the next few weeks. Possibly another art pack. I’d like to participate in the GMTK game jam at the end of the month. No guarantees that either will happen, just my thoughts at the moment.

And as always: Don’t Stop Creating.
